Elon Corporation Grant Scam - How to Protect Yourself

The fake "Elon Corporation" email below is a fraudulent phishing scam designed to steal your money or personal identity. Do not reply to this email and do not provide any personal information.

The "Elon Corporation" Email Scam

Dear Sir or Madam,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been selected to receive a grant of €7,500,000.00. This grant can be used for personal or business purposes, including projects and investments. It is part of our initiative to support stability in a challenging global economic environment.

Please reply to this email for further information.

Sincerely,

Elon Corporation

Why this is a scam

  • Unsolicited grants do not exist: Legitimate organizations do not hand out millions of euros to random individuals via unsolicited emails.
  • The "Advance Fee" trick: If you reply, the scammers will ask you to pay an "administrative fee," "tax," or "legal fee" before they can release the money. Once you pay, they will disappear, or keep inventing new fees for you to pay.
  • Identity theft risk: They will likely ask for your bank details, passport copy, and full legal name, which they can use to steal your identity or drain your bank accounts.
  • Impersonation: Scammers frequently use names like "Elon Corporation" or the names of high-profile billionaires to make their messages look wealthy and legitimate.

What you should do next

  • Delete the email immediately.
  • Mark it as spam or phishing in your email client to help protect others.
  • Never share your personal data, banking details, or copies of your ID with unverified senders.
