Persons who use hotel Wi-Fi to connect to the internet, may want to exercise caution, according to a FBI warning. This is because, their computers can become infected with a malware when they first try to connect to the internet using the hotel's Wi-Fi. Only Wi-Fi connections that have been compromised by a hacker pose a threat.

How can my computer get infected using a compromised hotel Wi-Fi?

When you try to connect to a compromised Wi-Fi connection for the first time, a pop-up window will appear, prompting you to update a popular application before connecting to the internet.

If you choose to update the application, a malicious software will be installed on your computer.

Do not install any applications or updates if you are travelling and using a Wi-Fi hotspot.install your applications or updates using a trusted internet connection like  your home or office.
