What is cPanel?
cPanel is a web hosting control panel software that lets web site owners quickly manage their web sites using a graphical interface accessible from a web browser. This includes managing email accounts, databases, uploading files, backing up/restoring files, installing scripts and other website management activities.
The phishing email message above, contains a link (login.cPanel.net) that appears as if it goes to the cPanel's log in or sign in page at login.cpanel.net, but the link actually goes to the phishing or fake cPanel.net website: www.domain3.com/index.htm.
Also, the web address or URL "login.cpanel.net" doesn't exist.
Once on the phishing or fake cPanel website, you will be asked to enter your CPanel user name and password. If you enter your cPanel’s user name and password on this fake website, it will be sent to the cybercriminals behind phishing scam.
Now, with your cPanel user name and password, these cybercriminals will be able to gain access to your website and hijack it. They may deface your website, send your website visitors to malicious websites or trick your website users into downloading viruses and other malware.
So, if you were tricked by this phishing or fake cPanel email message into clicking on the link in it and entering your cPanel user name and password on the fake cPanel web site, please change your website hosting password immediately or contact your website hosting provider if you are unable to.
