Malicious Message - This Content Requires Media Player 12.2 Update

If you see the following message while browsing the internet, please do not click on it: "This content requires Media Player 12.2 Update. Would you like to install it now?" Also, if you are asked to download, upgrade, or install the Media Player 12.2 on your computer, please do not. This is because the message, malicious websites or advertisements will attempt to trick you into downloading and installing malicious programs disguised as Media Player 12.2.

If Media Player 12.2 is not installed on your computer, only download it from Microsoft's website. Click here to download.

Because most persons are always anxious to watch a video online, they will quickly click on a link and install fake software in order to do so. Doing so is very dangerous because you can download a malicious program or fake Media Player, which will spy on you, steal your personal information, credit card information, or online accounts user name and password.

    PURCHASED and ran spark trust twice and still get media player 12.2. Any other ideas?

    This page appears to have the same threat in the Plug In message you are advising against in the Media Player message!
