If you have received phone calls from telephone number: 1-415-799-8686, in which the caller claims he/she is from the IRS and have important information about your taxes or that there was an error on your taxes and you owe a substantial amount of money. Please do not give them your information because it is a scam call.

Remember, the IRS will never contact you via telephone and ask you for your personal / financial information and ask you to make payment. They will send notices by postal mail and give tax payers enough time to respond and dispute claims.

Again, if you have received a call from 1-415-799-8686 or any other phone numbers claiming that you owe the IRS and you are required to make payment or else, it is a scam.

Always call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 to verify any IRS phone calls, emails or other messages that you have received. For other offices, look up the name in the phone directory and call the listed number, instead of the number in the message.

Please report any suspicious phone calls to the police or your service provider.
