USAA Bank Account Update Required - Security Measures Phishing Scam

The email message below with the subject: "Account Update Required! ***Security Measures***," was NOT sent by USAA. The phishing email was created by scammers to trick USSA customers into entering their user names and passwords on a fake USAA website. Once the potential victims enter their usernames and passwords on the fake website, it will be sent to the cyber-criminals, who will use the information to hijack the victims' accounts and use them fraudulently. So, recipients who have received the phishing email message, please do not click on the link or follow the instructions in it.

Dear Valued Customer,

Due to recent unfortunate events occurring as claimed by our treasured customers in recent weeks of their accounts getting compromised, we at USAA have decided to implement a fraud prevention measure to checkmate these unfortunate events from reoccurring.

In order to achieve that we need you to update your data in our database as we also intend to register your current IP address to ascertain online impersonators.

Log On To Update Your Information.

Note! Failure to comply will lead to online service suspension but in the interest of our valued customers.

The fake website that the link in the phishing email message will take the potential victims to, was created to look exactly like the USAA website, to trick potential victims of this phishing scam into entering their USAA banking sign-in or login information on it, thinking that they are on the legitimate USAA website located at www.usaa.com. If potential victims enter their banking credentials on this bogus website, it will be sent to the scammers behind the fake website. With their banking credentials, the cybercriminals will be able to gain access to their USAA accounts.

Victims of the phishing scam are asked to change their USAA password and contact USAA immediately.

This USAA phishing scam is similar to "Upgrade Your USAA Account”.

I'm getting similar emails "from USAA" every day...have for a week or so now...maybe longer. I am not, nor I ever been a USAA customer.
