I tried to put in an order and it would not go through. Does it mean that they now have my credit card?

    • July 28, 2020 at 8:27 AM by an anonymous user from: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

Yes this website is a scam and you'll receive a transaction from a company called

PRETTYPOOW 16782163267, GA or something else. Call your credit card company immediately.

I just had the same issue, I logged back in to find an address attached to my account from east India.

Best check your account and watch your cc for false charges.

It is possible. Keep checking your credit statements carefully for fraudulent or unwanted charges, and report them to your bank.

How come facebook is allowing these scam ads? They show up as stories on fb. Redirects to rootoutlet.shop/shop

    • July 23, 2020 at 2:32 PM by an anonymous user from: Canada

I keep reporting them - there are a lot of versions out there. FB does nothing.

  • July 9, 2020 at 4:16 PM by an anonymous user from: Montreal, Quebec, Canada

As soon as my payment went through, I knew I had been had. They did not charge tax, and I did not get a confirmation email. I also had no confirmation of the order I just placed. The bank said I had to wait 30 days before filing a dispute. I finally did that today. And yes, I feel foolish. Those deals were definitely too good to be true.

    • July 14, 2020 at 2:17 PM by an anonymous user from: Kitchener, Ontario, Canada

The same thing happened to me! I thought the deals was too good to be true but I placed my order anyway. I'm feeling stupid right now but lesson learned.

I got caught up in this Roots scam too. They actually shipped "Ray-Ban" sunglasses (value on package $5.00) which I received today. not the Roots satchel that I ordered. Fortunately, I had reported it to my bank the same day I ordered it. It seemed suspicious when I received a notice that payment failed, yet I saw the withdrawal on my credit card from reliable kind. My bank has withheld payment pending further investigation.

Exactly my experience. My clue was that they spelled "store" incorrectly. "soture"

  • June 14, 2020 at 8:12 AM by an anonymous user from: Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada

Site is back advertising on facebook as torontostore.buzz

Glad I found this. Super choked I found it because Roots had no record of my order. Grrrrr

  • June 11, 2020 at 1:22 PM by an anonymous user from: Oshawa, Ontario, Canada

I almost got caught today. Had items in the cart and my credit card info in place but before submitting I thought these prices are too good to be true so I checked and found this info. How easy we can be fooled. It was rootsoutle.ca.

  • June 10, 2020 at 6:34 PM by an anonymous user from: Tillsonburg, Ontario, Canada

Another one I've heard is www.rootsoutle.shop

  • June 3, 2020 at 1:24 PM by an anonymous user from: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

I also got hoodwinked, thought it was a good Roots sale, and always want to shop Canadian... Initially, it said the purchase did not go through but alert to my email showed it did. Then followed by an email with spelling mistakes and a fake email and website address. Followed a link on Facebook that is no longer there to report it.

  • June 3, 2020 at 10:56 AM by an anonymous user from: Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada

I fell for it on Monday - the charge cleared with VISA and now I have to wait for two weeks for the 'goods' that will not come before they will reverse the payment. It looked very legitimate and I foolishly thought the prices were due to low sales were a result of low sales during COVID. Feeling dumb.

    • June 13, 2020 at 5:24 PM by an anonymous user from: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Don't feel bad. I fell for it too. sure is a pain in the a*s though.

  • June 2, 2020 at 8:21 PM by an anonymous user from: Boucherville, Quebec, Canada

I got caught today and call my Bank

  • June 2, 2020 at 1:49 PM by an anonymous user from: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

I was excited when I saw the prices on RootsCanada.shop - as they say if its too good to be true watch out. I went to Roots.ca and the prices and sales were more realistic. I am not willing to take a chance on an iffy site.
