I got a call from 740-873-8432 that left a voice message claiming I should call "Katie Mendez" at 855-521-3355 regarding my student loans, but I never had student loans.
If you have received similar calls asking you to call 855-521-3355, please beware, especially if you are asked for personal or financial information, or asked to send money.

This is def a scam. When I first heard it I thought the same thing that it was legit because she spoke so well and it sounded real but she DIDNT say where she was calling from. I am a college student but I had literally just talked to my student loan people and even though I called THEM when the call rung to my person they STILL identified not only their name but what dept they were in and that was me calling them. I hope someone doesnt fall for this scam. I didnt even bother calling the #. I just deleted the message and blocked the number.
She sounds normal but she doesn't mention who she's calling or what company she works for. I used a calling program to see who owns the number and it says unknown. It also showed that there is no voicemail allowed going in their direction. Likely trying to push you into redoing your loans to her company or getting personal info.She questions whether or not we got her letter in the mail and we recently got a letter from our loan company but I think it was about the loan deferrals going on today. If you qualify, you can look up PSLF loan forgiveness. That's real but you had to have made 120 payments already and work for an eligible govt company plus other rules.
The thing thats weird is she seems very well spoken and doesn't sound like your typical SPAM call.
I received the same call from Katy Mendez at 855-521-3355 at the end of September 2021 saying she doesn't want my student to lose their pre qualifying loan status or to not qualify for Forgiveness. I tried calling back and someone answered and mumbled that they were with Student Services. I asked again the name of the company and they hung up on me.
I got a phone call yesterday (Oct. 4) from the same lady.

Calling about student Loans that I do not have? I called back from a unlisted number and at first they were nice until I asked them a bunch of questions and they got rude and hung-up on me.
I also just received this call! I think it’s definitely a scam
