The fake Verizon(VZN) text message below, with a link to the malicious website - coveringwforest.com, is a scam. The fake text, which claims there is special a rebate from Verizon of $200, is being sent by scammers or cybercriminals who are attempting to trick their potential victims into clicking the link in it, which goes to a phishing or malicious website.

The malicious website that the link in the text goes to will attempt to trick visitors into downloading malware, or steal their personal/financial information. Therefore, recipients of the text scam are asked not to click the link or follow the instructions in it.

(571)-262-1116 sent me this same message. The link wasn’t to coveringforest though, it was to modernkill.com. I figure everything is a scam, so thankfully didn’t click it.
