It seems scammers are using automated calls or robocalls to ring their potential victims' phones once from 01 666 3776 in order to leave a missed call message, hoping potential victims will call back. The scammers, pretending to be Garda economic branch, aim is to get their potential victims into calling them back.

If contacted, the scammers may attempt to trick their potential victims into disclosing their personal and financial information by claiming their PPS number has been suspended and they are being investigated in relation to suspicious activities linked to their PPS number. It is, therefore, recommended that recipients of missed calls from 01 666 3776, do not call back the number.
