• The "Denied Overseas Claims" Scheme: Fraudsters specifically target individuals (including Mandarin-speaking communities) claiming that someone in China filed fake medical claims under their name. They spoof official Molina numbers, use highly professional scripts, and try to "transfer" victims to fake police officers over Zoom to demand photos of passports and IDs.
• The Home Visit / Children's Assessment Scam: Targets receive calls claiming a "new law" requires an in-person assessment of their children to keep their insurance benefits. The scammers attempt to schedule home visits or off-site meetings. Molina does not make these demands.
• Threats of Immediate Cancellation: Scammers send fraudulent texts or robotic calls claiming your coverage is expiring and demand instant payment or banking information to keep your policy active.
• Predatory Plan Swapping: Unsolicited aggressive callers may use deceptive tactics to trick Medicaid or Hawki (CHIP) recipients into switching their Managed Care Organization (MCO) to Molina without their full consent. []

How to Protect Yourself

• Hang up and call back: Never trust inbound caller ID, as numbers are easily faked. Hang up immediately and dial the official member services number printed on the back of your physical Molina Healthcare ID Card.
• Never give out critical documents: Real Molina representatives will never ask for your passport, social security card, or direct banking passwords over an unsolicited call.
• Do not click links: Avoid clicking links in text messages or emails regarding unexpected medical bills or card updates. Use the official Molina Member Portal instead.
• Refuse direct transfers: If a caller offers to transfer you directly to "the police," "the authorities," or an "internal investigator," hang up.

How to Report the Scam

If you have been targeted or shared sensitive information, take action right away:

• Report to Molina: Call the toll-free Molina Healthcare AlertLine at (866) 606-3889 or submit an anonymous report online through the Molina Healthcare AlertLine Portal.
• File an official complaint: Report identity theft attempts to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) or the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
• Contact your bank: If you shared banking details or noticed unauthorized charges, notify your financial institution immediately to freeze your accounts.
