How to Protect Yourself as a Consumer

• Check the Color & Taste: Authentic unrefined avocado oil should be emerald green with a rich, buttery, or grassy flavor. Pale yellow, flavorless oils indicate heavy refining or substitution.
• Look for Trusted Brands: Brands like Chosen Foods and Marianne’s have consistently passed independent UC Davis purity assessments.
• Avoid "Too Good to Be True" Prices: Pure avocado oil is expensive to produce. Extremely cheap store brands or private labels are mathematically much more likely to be adulterated.
