How the Scam Works

• Stolen or AI-Generated Imagery: The advertisements display gorgeous, gravity-defying fabric patterns, hyper-realistic linen textures, or intricate embroidery. In reality, these photos are either created using AI tools or stolen directly from legitimate handmade fashion labels.
• The Bait-and-Switch: If you actually receive a package, the high-quality cotton, linen, or silk skirt you expected is replaced by a cheap, static-heavy polyester or nylon knockoff with crooked seams and printed-on (rather than embroidered) patterns.
• Drop-Shipping Networks: Many of these websites are temporary fronts operated by large overseas networks. Once a specific site gets inundated with negative reviews, the scammers shut it down and launch an identical storefront under a different name.

Red Flags to Watch For

• Too-Good-To-Be-True Prices: Intricate, tiered, or heavy maxi skirts require significant fabric and labor. If a site sells them for $15–$30, it is highly likely a scam or ultra-fast-fashion dropshipper.
• Anomalies in the Photos: Look closely at the ad images. Common AI tells include floating or blending fabric layers, armless or oddly shaped mannequins, or melting backgrounds.
• No Original Branding: Reverse-image searching the skirt's photo often reveals the exact same image posted across dozens of completely different, randomly named e-commerce sites.
• Vague "About Us" and Return Policies: Legitimate brands list a real physical address and clear return instructions. Scam sites usually list a generic outlook email address or hide their strict, costly international return policies.

Before entering your credit card details, check the website's legitimacy. If you are looking for authentic, ethically produced long skirts, seek out verified independent brands like those found on curated platforms rather than clicking directly on social media ads.
