Is the Website www.crzplay.com a Scam?

The website www.crzplay.com, which claims that it allows you to play games, music, books, movies and software directly in your browser or download on your phone, computer and tablet, cannot be trusted. We do not recommend using it. We do not trust the website because the Verisign and other security seals on the website are fakes, so please do not enter your personal or credit card information on the website.

The website did not subscribe to the Norton VeriSign Trusted Seal services and is only trying to fool consumers/visitors by placing a stolen copy of the trustmark/seal on their website in order to give the appearance of "Trust" and "Security". This practice is called "Scraping."

The Fake Verisign and other Trusted Seals

www.crzplay.com sign up page

Major Security and Trust seals icons commonly used by: BBB.org, McAfee, Thawte, TRUSTe, Trustwave, UpFront, VeriSign/Norton, and others, all have URLs or website addresses that are linked to those icons. So, when you click the icon, the relevant website certificate or verification page should appear with information about the website. But, on the website www.crzplay.com, nothing happens when you click on the icons.

Also, the website has a fake Facebook "like" button, which is used to trick visitors into believing that the website is liked by thousands on Facebook. The website is not even on Facebook.

Although the website has a secure connection or SSL, it should still not be trusted. If you have entered your credit card information on the malicious website, please contact your credit card company or bank.

Is the Website www.crzplay.com a Scam?

The website stole copyrighted books and published them for 'free' on their site.
To access the free books one must however give credit card information.
A takedown notice to the host of the site was denied, because this site allegedly is only on a 'pass through' contract.
Whois does name the hosting company without qualifiers.
Registrar at the time of our encounter with this site was Enom.com.
This registrar represents many other sites of similar dubious distinction.
The site claims in one of their statements to have distributed 671 copies of one of our books.
Internet registration records show the parent company of crzplay.com as a Delaware corporation. It seems to be owned by yet another highly suspicious company in China.
That makes sense because if your business is to steal intellectual property you want to be domiciled in China. China does not honor copyrights.
Overall a company/service that should be avoided at all cost. And that includes enom.com, their registrar.

I foolishly signed up to these pages and got nothing so bank contacted and payments returned to my account.
I have blocked them at the bank who say that they could still try to get money by using a different company name, so to watch what is going out of the bank account.
