Scamming - Fraud
If you get a "Winner Of Black Friday" text message asking you to click a link that goes to winnerofblackfriday.com to participate, please do not. This is because the "Winner Of Black Friday" website is a scam pretending to be associated with Walmart, which has tricked a lot of online users into participating by claiming they will win a prize.
The scam claims participants will be charged $1, but many have reported being charged a lot more and have contacted their banks to dispute the charge. An online user said he called his credit card company after he was told the prize was unavailable after entering his credit card information and being constantly redirected to other prizes.
He was told by his credit card company that $19.95 was charged to his card, instead of the $1. So, he canceled the card and reported it as an unacceptable charge. His credit card company is investigating the unauthorised charge.
