The fake NFCU alert text below, which claims a Walmart charge has been on the recipient's account, is a scam being sent by cybercriminals. The aim of the cybercriminals is to frighten and trick potential victims into responding to the text scam.

If potential victims respond to the NFCU Alert text scam, the cybercriminals will attempt to trick them into sending them their account credentials, personal and financial information, or trick them into visiting a phishing website that steals the same sensitive information.
