The purpose of a brushing scam is to try to artificially inflate the businesses with a sender's customer reviews and business presence to try to gain some legitimacy. In other words, it is a devious way to increase sales and obtain positive feedback by fraud.
A "brushing" company somehow may have gotten your name and address probably from legitimate orders on a Chinese e-commerce platform. That company may then use your information to boost sales and get positive reviews. They do this by pretending to be an actual customer and place an order via a fake account and then send the products via package to you. When the delivery of package is confirmed, they create a favorable review that appears to be "verified" by you on the platform.
