Dicks Discount Store Scam Websites

I saw an ad on TikTok that showed like deals on Dicks Sporting Goods, so I opened it and it took me to this website "sportinggoodsoutlets.live," where I saw massive "deals." It was like up to 90% off- which obviously I should’ve probably caught on, but ah well. I picked out 3 different shoes and it gave me "free gifts" as well to my order, and the total was 68$ and change. It looked just like a regular shopping website, where you put in your address and your credit card info. They did a pretty good job making it look legit.

Everything felt normal until I noticed there was no email and no message of order confirmation. After not getting one, I searched for the Dick's website and found out the legitimate one is located at www.dickssportinggoods.com, and it’s a completely different layout than the one I’m on. I started looking up fake websites, but this one didn’t come up. So, I contacted Chase Bank and found out the merchant is “PM Buy” and the location is “Hong Kong.” Based on that information, I definitely knew it was fake. So I locked both my debit card and credit card, which I used to place the order.

I ended up calling Chase and letting them know I may have been scammed. The representative said I have to wait like 2 business days for the transaction to post, and then everything will settle. They also said I have to wait 2 days before I cancel the credit card. I suppose it could’ve gone much worse.
