Sentinel Federal Credit Union (F.C.U) Phishing Text Message and Robo Call Scams

Sentinel Federal Credit Union warns all members to be extremely cautious when they are asked for personal or financial information over the phone, by email, through a text message or the Internet. They are advised not to give out personal information unless they have initiated the contact and are sure they know who they are dealing with. Identity thieves are clever, and may pose as a representative of your Credit Union to get you to reveal your sensitive information. The thieves or scammers may use pressure to get you to act immediately or use scare tactics or harassment to trick you into sharing your personal information.

The fraudulent text messages and robo calls below should NOT be responded to. They are scams attempting to steal your personal information. Sentinel Federal Credit Union will NEVER contact you via email, text, or phone asking for confidential or sensitive information. Remember never give out your sensitive information to people who contact you. Contact Federal Credit Union immediately at 605-923-1405 or 888-923-1400 if you responded to a fraudulent message and have given out any information.

  • "FRM:F.C.U" MSG:We have detected suspicious activity on your F.C.U debit card.Please Call now free to Verification Department: 1-888-805-48"
  • "your Sentinel FCU card has been deactivated and to reactivate please call 407-XXX-XXXX. This scam is an attempt to steal your card number and PIN. Do not call the number and do not provide personal information."
  • "Your card has been limited. Contact Activation Center 24/7 free: 1-877-XXX-XXXX to remove limitations."
  • “Credit Union Alert” and that your card has been deactivated and to activate please call 605-XXX-XXXX. This scam is an attempt to steal your card number and PIN. Do not call the number and do not provide personal information."
  • “Hello! Please call XXX-XXX-XXXX. Your attention is required.” This scam is an attempt to steal your card number and PIN. Do not call the number and do not provide personal information."
  • "Credit Union Alert” and that your card has been deactivated and to activate please call 605-XXX-XXXX."
  • "Your card has been limited. Contact Activation Center 24/7 free: 1-877-XXX-XXXX to remove limitations."

  • "your Sentinel Federal Credit Union ATM or debit card has been cancelled or blocked due to fraud. Message requests that you call 800 number to reactivate card."
  • "your Sentinel FCU cardmstarting with 4058 has been deactivated and to activate please call 605-XXX-XXXX."
  • "your Sentinel FCU card starting with 4058 has been deactivated and to activate please call 605-XXX-XXXX."
  • "your debit card has been cancelled or blocked due to fraud. Message requests that you Press 1 to contact our Security Department or call 866-XXX-XXXX."
  • "A member received a phone call from a person claiming to be a representative for Sentinel Federal Credit Union and the person asked the member to verify their personal information. Remember we will never contact you and ask you to verify your confidential information."
  • "your Sentinel Federal Credit Union ATM or debit card has been cancelled or blocked due to fraud. Message requests that you Press 1 to contact our Security Department or call 866-XXX-XXXX."
  • "you have won money in a sweepstakes with Sentinel Federal Credit Union and to forward the message to your friends so they can be enrolled in the sweepstakes."
  • "your Sentinel FCU card starting with 4058 has been deactivated an to activate please call 605-XXX-XXXX."
  • "your Sentinel Federal Credit Union card has been blocked due to fraud. Message requests that you Press 1 and enter your card number to reactivate the card and remove the block."

    I received this via text. Deleted it and quickly got the same text.

    Got one of those voice messages just several days ago. I just didn't call back and check the number on Google. I found some people have already reported the number at http://why call .me. I think these scammers are calling many people at the same time. Beware of them, folks.
