Your Facebook Account Requires Confirmation Phishing Scam

Facebook users who have received messages like the one below, which claim their Facebook accounts must be confirmed in order to avoid disabling them is a phishing scam. The phishing messages are being sent by cyber criminals to steal Facebook usernames and passwords by taking Facebook users to a fake Facebook website where they will be asked sign-in. But, any attempt to sign into the fake website will result in their Facebook account usernames and passwords being sent to the cybercriminals. Once the cybercriminals have gotten their potential victims' account credentials, they will hijack their accounts and use them fraudulently.

Facebook users who click on the link in the message will be taken to the following fake Facebook website:

http://m.facebook.com--------secured-----confirm----- account-login--491840561.samanthagerrit .com/

Your Facebook account must be confirmed today in order to avoid disabling! This process is quick and must be done by all of our users as an extra security measure. If you fail to confirm your account today it will be limited and then disabled!

This why Facebook users should never click on a link to sign into their accounts. They should instead, go directly to www.facebook.com or use Facebook's app to check their accounts for important notifications or updates if there are any.

Facebook users who have been tricked by the message are asked to change their passwords immediately.
