Do Not Call 1-410-100-001 - the Number is Being Used by Cyber criminals

Do not call 1-410-100-001. The number is being used by cybercriminals in an attempt to steal their potential victims' personal, account and financial information. The cyber criminals do this by sending out phishing text messages like the one below claiming the recipients' cards have been temporarily locked. The phishing message then asks the recipients to call the same number in order to unlock their cards.

FRM: GOCARE

SUBJ: DISCOUNT

MSG: $150.00 credit has been issued to be deducted from your next billing statement. Visit now attgo150.com to apply your credit. Thank you.

If the recipients call the number, they will get an automated message asking them to input all of their personal information, including their social security numbers, bank account numbers and other information the cyber criminals need in order to gain access to their potential victims’ accounts, steal their money and use their accounts fraudulently.

Recipients of the phishing text or SMS message, who have called 1-410-100-001 and submitted to their information, are asked to contact their bank for help and report it to the police.

Thank you for this information! I received a text message from the same number yesterday, looked up the number on my laptop, read this information and deleted the text without opening it. I research any number I do not recognize on my text alert messaging and delete it immediately if it appears to be a danger.

    Received a text message:

    It reads: FRM: server@263.net
MSG: Your A.O.D card has been temporarily limited, for details call to 734-655-0008"

The action I took was to do a *67 call to the number.

I heard a automated voice asking me to enter my card number which of course I did not do.

I received a text from 1-410-100-001 on May 20, 2018 which supposedly came "FRM: McCluskey, Paul".

The "SUBJ: Hello". "MSG: MY NAME IS SGT Winifred Gates. I need to talk to you please reply to ********" (and there was listed a Hotmail email listed after "please reply to").

Further down in the message, it mentions the "Phillipsburg School District". Needless to say, in keeping with a policy I set for myself 30 years ago, I did not answer this, emails I receive from a source I am not familiar with, and lastly but most importantly, ONE SHOULD NEVER OPEN ANY LINKS PUT OUT THERE FOR THE MASSES ON BLOGS THAT APPEAR ON NEWS BLOGS LIKE THOSE AT YAHOO OR FROM THOSE APPEARING ON FACEBOOK BY PEOPLE YOU DON'T PERSONALLY KNOW, AND EVEN THEN, BE VERY WARY.

If someone does so, they deserve what they get. If that sounded a bit harsh, it was meant to. I work in a very large company's "Privacy and Security Dept.", and my training deals with a lot of ways that the bad guys get information to use against a person, and those are the two biggest ways they get your information.

ALSO, KEEP IN MIND THE "TRIED AND TRUE" SAYING THAT NOTES "IF IT SOUNDS TO GO TO BE TRUE, IT MOST LIKELY IS JUST THAT.
