Happy Days then!I'm sorry for those who have fallen foul. Yes, it is very convincing. So convincing in fact that it genuinely looked as if the payment request was sent from a PayPal account. Of course, that could never be, could it? PayPal has robust verification systems in place and would have blocked the fraudsters account immediately.an anonymous userhttps://www.onlinethreatalerts.com/users/#an-anonymous-userDec 19, 2022 at 11:14 AM by Bit Defender LLC Scam PayPal Payment Messagean anonymous user from: Fiera, Milan, Lombardy, ItalyUnfortunately, I was caught by this. It was VERY convincing - the email I received appeared to be genuine and, being unable to contact PP on the helpline on the website, called the number in the email. After three attempts, I was finally connected. So, first step was to create anxiety, followed by frustration. The Indian who answered appeared to work at PP - he was looking at all my transactions and asking me if they were correct. Obviously, he had hacked into the account somehow. He told me the first payment (of 5) of £899 had gone through, so it would be necessary to reverse this. I was asked to give the PP code received by SMS, which arrived immediately (he already had my phone number), I cannot tell this from a genuine code sent from PP afterwards when I secured my account. Then, I received an SMS from my bank and I was asked for the code.Thinking about this later, I started to feel very uneasy and contacted my bank and PP.an anonymous userhttps://www.onlinethreatalerts.com/users/#an-anonymous-userDec 15, 2022 at 2:26 PM by Bit Defender LLC Scam PayPal Payment Messagean anonymous user from: WC2, London, England, United KingdomI’ve just had this!
