8772740320 EBT Electronic Benefit Transfer Scam Text

I received a test msg to call this phone number. I did not call it as I figured it was a scam.

I rec’d the EBT scam number text on my phone Friday Feb 11, 2022 - 4:58pm. I was going to call my local office Monday instead of responding but decided to google it first. Glad I did. However, I figured something wasn’t right. Normally, a letter is sent. When does Snap ever text?? Becareful out there…a lot of scammers.

Stop taking money out of my bank account, please cancel my account

Received a text I will post below, the msg was from email:

Got this text at 9:48pm from ebt-14319180-egov.uscis.gov telling me not to disregard. Wasn’t sure why Immigration was trying to contact me and got concerned until I found this. At least I can sleep easy

Received text today in South Orange County. Disregarded and promptly deleted.

Retired from California. Living in Italy. Text came on my US phone. Scared the bejeezus out of me until I googled "fws" (US Fish and Wildlife Service?)(WTF?)

I also googled "ebt". That's for sending foodstamp benefits. I'm trying to imagine being on foodstamps and getting a text and seeing the "gov" part and not having an internet service provider to be able to Google "fws". As if they don't have enough stress in their lives.

I hope these scammer guys die painful deaths.

Now I gotta go ask my husband if he's ever seen a wildlife. We like to eat fish.

What a scammers, and the country is not doing anything about it.

I am in Sacramento, CA. I assumed it was a scam but wanted to see if other people were receiving it also.

I got a text from an email address telling me to not disregard, but to call 877-274-0320

I got the same text. It showed up from ebt-90395063-fws.gov
The text looked like this: /Do not disregard.Call 877-274-0320./#129-jju-194

Just got this same text in Los Angeles, Ca.

Got a text on iPhone from

Got a text from this number and responded by asking who they are and to identify themselves.

Got this in the Central Valley of California 2/12/22

Just got the text at 8:46 pm EST in FL. I figured it was a scam.

I also received this text. Denver, CO. FYI - I also want to mention that I went to block the number from my phone and blocking was an option. So this scammer is sending this text in a format that does not allow blocking the number. I don't know how that potentially leaves my phone open to receiving more texts from this scammer. Perhaps one of you knows more about this than I do? I have never not been able to block a number. I will also call my telephone service for suggestions.

My gf just did this and she gave them her info, but they are closed today so we cant report it

Received EBT text on 2/12/22

Just got one too. Says the email is from a fs.usda.gov address

I got a text from ebt-20728582-fresno.ca.us saying Do not disregard. Call 877-274-0320 and gives a reference number. I did call the number but hung up when an automated voice said they were the ebt help desk.
