Scamming - Fraud
I kept getting a Venmo Phone Call from this telephone number 1-855-504-1160 back to back today. I finally answered and it was a recording talking about a Venmo money transfer for hundreds of dollars to a specific person. While the recording was speaking, a text message hit my messages from Venmo with a 6-digit code.
The text message explicitly instructed me NOT TO GIVE ANYONE THE 6-digit code. It also said if anyone ask for the 6-digit code, then the person asking is trying to Scam you.
Well…, Guess what the Recording was asking me for?! Yep, them jokers asked me for the 6-digit code!
Needless to say I was hip to the Scam already and went ahead and hung up my phone.
The jokers called me back 3 more times and sent me 3 more text messages; 1 for each time they called me back.
I blocked the number and deleted the text messages!
STAY ALERT People!
If it sounds Too Good to Be True, it actually is and is a Lie! If it sounds Crazy and doesn’t sit well with you, it’s a Scam!

If you receive a phone call from Venmo hang up...its a scam...I had a phone call this morning saying a fraudulent purchase had been made on my account if it wasn't me please enter the code sent to my phone ..immediately 3 purchases had been made to shein of 90.73 ..I immediately deactivated my account and those transactions were voided...Venmo has told me they do not make those calls...so I'm letting you know the scam is real.
It literally just happened to me! Kept calling back to back until I answered and immediately realized it was a scam so I blocked the #. Do not fall for this! It’s holiday season and the scammers are on the moveThe scam involves a fake automated call from a number that appears to be from Venmo, claiming that there has been an unauthorized attempt to log into your Venmo account from an unknown device or a suspicious transaction from your account. The call then asks you to press 1 to verify your identity and sends you a text message with a PIN code that you are supposed to enter on the phone. However, the call and the text are not from Venmo, but from scammers who are trying to get your PIN code and take over your account.
