Online Threat Alerts (OTA) - Alerting you to scams and frauds.
Cybercriminals are calling from, or asking potential victims to contact them at, telephone number 833-684-4075, claiming they are from the Taxpayer Resolution Support Center. The "Taxpayer Resolution Support Center" (or similar "Tax Resolution Team" names) scam involves fraudulent phone calls, emails, or texts claiming to resolve urgent tax issues, impersonating the IRS or state tax authorities. These scams threaten fines or legal action to steal personal information or money. Hang up immediately; the IRS initiates contact via mail, not phone.
Legitimate tax professionals will not make unsolicited calls demanding immediate payment.
The Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) is an independent organization within the IRS that helps taxpayers resolve tax problems they cannot fix on their own, ensuring fair treatment. TAS assists with financial difficulties, systemic issues, or urgent threats of adverse action. Contact them at 1-877-777-4778 or submit Form 911.
