Discord See More Scam Message - How to Protect Yourself

The "Discord see more" scam is a phishing tactic where cybercriminals send a Direct Message (DM) to victims with a shortened link, a fake button, or a manipulated preview promising "see more" of a photo, video, or message. Clicking the link directs users to a fake login portal designed to steal their credentials or compromise their Discord token.

How the Scam Works

  • The Hook: You receive a DM from a stranger (or a compromised account of a friend) with text like, "Hey, is this you in this picture? See more here..."
  • The Deception: The message often includes a fake Rich Embed (a feature Discord uses to preview links, which scammers manipulate to make it look like a legitimate website).
  • The Trap: When you click the link to "see more," it loads a fake Discord login page.
  • The Result: If you enter your username and password on the fake site, the scammers instantly harvest your credentials to take over your account, lock you out, and use your profile to spam your friends.

How to Protect Yourself

  • Never click unsolicited links: Treat any unexpected link—even from a trusted friend—with extreme suspicion.
  • Verify before logging in: Double-check the URL in your browser before entering your login details. Official Discord login pages will only originate from domains like discord.com.
  • Check the sender: If a friend sends a weird link, message them on a different platform (like text or Instagram) to ask if they actually sent it.
  • Enable 2FA: Set up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) in your User Settings to add a layer of security.
