The Amazon verification code text scam is a widespread account-takeover tactic designed to trick you into giving hackers access to your shopping account. If you received an unsolicited text message containing a six-digit One-Time Password (OTP) or security code from Amazon, do not share the code with anyone and do not click any links inside the text.
There are two primary variations of this scam currently circulating:
1. The Direct Code Scam (Phishing Links)
2. The Multi-Step "Two-Factor" Scam (Phone Call + Text)
