Avast Blocking Facebook Messages

Persons using Avast antivirus software are getting a malware alert when they try to read their Facebook messages. This alert blocks the Facebook message web address and prevents the user from viewing their Facebook messages because it claims a malware was detected. Please note that this is a problem with the Avast antivirus software and updating it will fix the problem.

How to Fix the Problem

To fix this problem just update your Avast engine and virus definition.

Here are the instructions:

  • Double-click on the taskbar icon to open Avast

    Avast User Interface
     
  • Click on Settings
  • Click on Maintenance
  • Click on Update
  • Click on "Update engine and virus definitions"

If you are unable to update Avast manually from within the program itself, you may download the update installation file by clicking here.

    I'm using Avast and I am able to browse pinterest.com. I recommend that you use Avast to do a full scan of your computer.use the "Boot Time" scan option.

    Avast blocked me from browsing the Pinterest.com site, telling me there is a malware something.. what can i do to fix it?
