The fake message was not sent Facebook, but by cyber-criminals, to trick their potential victims into visiting a phishing Facebook website. On the phishing website, potential victims will be asked to enter their Facebook usernames, passwords, email address, gender, birthday, country and security question. The requested information is what the cyber-criminals behind the phishing scam need, in order to hijack their victims’ accounts, which they will use fraudulently.
