The website "www.lg2017.co.uk" and others like it, which claim that visitors are winners of the 2017 LG Electronics Promo (see below), are lottery scams. The website www.lg2017.co.uk is not associated with LG Electronics. It was created by scammers to trick visitors into sending them their personal information and money, by claiming that they are lottery winners. Every year, scammers created fake LG websites claiming their potential victims are winners in a fake LG Electronics Promo. Last year the lottery scammers created the following fake website: www.lg2016.com, and the year before they created www.lg2015.com.

Scammers lure potential victims to the fraudulent website (www.lg2017.co.uk), by sending them fake messages like the one below, claiming they are winners of the LG Electronics Promo. But, there is no such promo or lottery, therefore, online users who have received the same messages, should not follow the instructions in them.

Hello and congratulations to you as LG Electronics UK Ltd announces the result of this year 2017 annual promo. Your mobile number 989121142*** was luckily selected in 2nd place to win £850,000 (Eight hundred and Fifty Thousand British Pounds ). To claim your cash prize simply visit www.lg2017.co.uk You will be requested to logon with your mobile number: 9*9121142*** and your LG key: 8***84143. You will find more details of the prize award upon logging in.

The link in the message goes to this website: www.st-phillips.com, which ask visitors to make payment at the website: mms.paymentsensegateway.com, using the following infomation:

Merchant Name: St. Philips Services
Amount: 524.00 GBP
Order ID: 01269357
Order Description: St. Philips invoice payment [3649-3649-93035016]

Online users who were already tricked by the LG Electronics SMS Lottery scam, are asked to contact their banks and them to cancel the charges and refund their money. They may need to get a new credit card, to prevent the lottery scammers from continuously charging the current one.
