1000 Walmart Gift Card Text Message

Why are these scammers still allowed to prey on people? I fell for the 1000 Walmart Gift Card scam. I was told I’ve been awarded a $1000 amazon gift card. I did all the surveys, chose silver and gold deals as required (with each ‘deal’ requiring multiple attempts to complete) - and when I went back to the USA rewards page, it now said the ‘reward’ was a $100 gift card (not the originally promised $1000 card) and shunted me back to the silver deal page as if I had not already completed it.

The "1000 Walmart Gift Card Text Message" Scam

"Congrats, Ben! Your code printed on your last receipt is among 7 randomly picked for $1000 Walmart gift card promotion."

I have wasted HOURS of my evening attempting to jump through their hoops, and all I got for my trouble was a bunch of trial subscriptions I now need to cancel, had all my info phished or stolen, and had to call my bank’s lost and stolen line to cancel my card before these scammers start making unauthorized charges to my accounts.

My husband got the same thing. He filled out the survey. We got the net spend Visa card in mail. I decided to check this out before activating and so glad I did. My clue it was a scam was list of monthly fee. They only got address and email. Do I need to worry?

I received an identical text message on 12/26/2019. I'm fairly cyber-smart and didn't trust the message at all so I checked online to be sure. The biggest red flag for me was that it didn't say what store or company it was from. Thank you for the information. I was quickly able to write this off as a scam rather than an incident of identity theft (as I've been fighting that for a few months due to a tablet theft.

I got the same text message on 12/23/2019 and I would have disregarded it but I had been to Walmart on December 01, 2019. I could not find the code on my receipt but I hit the ok button and it populated with my information and asked for my email address. When I got to the survey I went online to see if there were any Walmart scams and this site came up. Then I closed the app. The text came from this telephone number (714) 686-8875

This is a pretty good scam. They even have links to convincing Terms and Conditions and Policy pages. I started down this road, but then remembered, "If it's too good to be true, it probably isn't".

    Hope this helps..

I've received two of these texts within the last two days! I reported both. However, what freaks me out is that I received one minutes after I purchased something on Walmart's website! How did they get my info? Can they steal identity based off what they have?
