At midnight, tired and a little slow, I got text message from a New York area code and because I'm expecting a shipped item, went to check but once asked to further click on AT&T link (suspicious), I declined; but then, I was asked to clean up my phone, I did not. Thanks for confirming this is a scam. Deleted

Nothing you receive from third party online sites, popups is "safe"

  • September 10, 2020 at 1:48 AM by an anonymous user from: Sanford, North Carolina, United States

I got one addressed to my mother's name, and later that evening, one addressed in my name. Both sent to the same number. We share an AT&T account, so that may be connected to how they are getting the names. Otherwise, there's no reason my mom's name would be associated with my cell #.

Are others on here also AT&T subscribers? I wonder if there was a hack.

    • September 12, 2020 at 10:32 PM by an anonymous user from: Bakersfield, California, United States

I have Verizon wireless. The account is under my name. I also have received these annoying texts. One just a few minutes ago which is late 8:30pm for usps to “send” me text messages.

    • September 10, 2020 at 8:46 PM by an anonymous user from: Yorba Linda, California, United States

Yes, interestingly the text is addressed to my husband, on my phone. Our at&t account is under his name. Probably an at&t hack.

Come to think of it a few weeks ago we got an email saying our at&t online acct was locked because the incorrect password had been entered too many times. But neither my husband nor I had tried to get into our account. Hmm

    • September 9, 2020 at 10:52 PM by info

No, your phone is compromised. You will have to download and install malware or submit personal/other sensitive information on the page you were taken to.

      • September 10, 2020 at 10:46 AM by an anonymous user from: Bohemia, New York, United States

you mean it is not compromised right? Since nothing was downloaded and no personal info was added to that page that we were taken to?

I also only clicked on the link then immediately closed it out and cleared history. Is there any further action that is required since nothing was downloaded or entered?

My name's not Julia...not even the correct gender. I wonder if they can receive reply texts? If so, I kinda feel like setting up a program that has a bot that spams them repeatedly for days with hundreds of random texts.

  • September 9, 2020 at 8:25 PM by an anonymous user from: Los Angeles, California, United States

Got it from 302 760 3792 but what is really alarming is the text was addressed to me, it used my first name followed by “important notification for your USPS delivery”. So it’s not just a program mass texting numbers, they have my cell number associated with my name high is concerning.
