The fake email is being sent by online scammers who are attempting to trick their potential victims into calling them at the fake PayPal customer service or support telephone number. If contacted, the scammers will attempt to trick callers into disclosing their account credentials, personal and financial information. If they are successful in getting the stolen information, they will use it fraudulently. I forward all of these emails to PayPal but they continue. It’s so frustrating.
