Is smithgregory com a Scam or Legitimate Website? Smith Gregory Debt Collection Review

The website, smithgregory.com, appears to be untrustworthy. I think so because the website was registered only 3 days in Iceland, but its privacy policy was updated on January 25, 2021. How can a website that is 3 days old update its policy more than a year ago? Also, there is no physical address of the business and their only means of communication is via telephone and an online form.

funny I received the same call with the same message. Originally the calls came from a different "so called collection source" with the same distinct callers voice with the same message and the same phone number. SCAM for sure. There should be a way to hang these scammers

  • April 14, 2022 at 3:28 PM by an anonymous user from: Ashburn, Virginia, United States

I received the sane message. Didn't leave a number to call, didn't use my name. Stated an address change happened. Very shady indeed. I received numerous calls in a short period of time. Does not seem legit

I am a former debit collector; the fine message has a lot of red flags. No phone number to reach them, numerous calls in a short time. Some laws have changed but information like my name was not included and at the end stating this was a debt collector along with stating an address change on a voice mail that maybe heard by many major red flags. FYI website is gone

Is Smith Gregory a real debt collector or not? What should I do about this person threatening me with this especially when I never heard of any company by that name?

    • April 5, 2022 at 9:05 PM by an anonymous user from: Turner, Ashburn, Georgia, United States

      Scam and Scammers.

  • April 4, 2022 at 4:05 PM by an anonymous user from: Lindon, Utah, United States

Also got a similar call from 956-236-6696 from a Chris Williams for Smith Gregory law, talking about debt and that I changed my address but didn't let them know. I've lived in the same place for 4 years now and the only debt I owe is $17 for a medical bill. Which in UT they cant put anything under $40 on your credit so I doubt I'd be getting legal action taken on me for it. Scam for sure

    • April 5, 2022 at 11:26 AM by an anonymous user from: Los Angeles, California, United States

Everyone says you are a scam. Think of a world were people are not afraid of people like you. Again I'll pay any bill.plp lol

The statement below is the exact voice mail left for me today. I copied and pasted it. However, they called me from (228)299-0837-Pearlington, MS

Voice Mail-“Your account was recently transferred our office is currently be interviewed for possible further collection activity as a courtesy I didn't want at least reach out to the number we have on file one more time before proceeding looks like there was an address change and you did not advise our client original creditor there for the clock in essence _______ on this account we're hoping you can get this matter settled today once ____ all or at least set up a small monthly payment plan to stop interesting collections and do the right thing just give us a call back at this number or go to our website smithgregory.com again that Smithgregory.com my lawn wanted to inform you as communications from a debt collector…”

      • April 7, 2022 at 9:26 PM by an anonymous user from: East Carroll Parish, Roosevelt, Louisiana, United States

I got the exact message left for me. I have been at my same address for the past 20 years. And on top of that they are using my maiden name that I haven’t used in the same amount of time. Anything that was on my credit before 2019 was filed in my bankruptcy so I don’t owe them a thing.

      • April 5, 2022 at 5:19 PM by an anonymous user from: Missouri, United States

I received the same exact voicemail from New York, NY.

      • April 5, 2022 at 11:23 AM by an anonymous user from: Los Angeles, California, United States

I called and believe you may be mistaken about my debt. You have to be accessible for me to respond. I'm not sending money to someone without knowing who they are, what debt they refer to and how do you have my phone number. Please call me and I'd be more than happy to resolve. If you are not legitimate, I hope you have a horrible death. If you are I'd be more than happy to pay it. I think you may a joke

  • April 4, 2022 at 3:00 PM by an anonymous user from: Fulton County, Sandy Springs, Georgia, United States

I just got the same call but I have no debt.. it must be bogus.

    • April 4, 2022 at 4:57 PM by an anonymous user from: Penn Hills Township, Penn Hills, Pennsylvania, United States

I just received a voice-mail from a guy named Chris Williams from Smith-Gregory saying that they're coming after me for a debt because I moved and didn't give them a new address, but I haven't moved in 11 years and I don't have a clue who these people are and I don't owe them anything period.

  • April 4, 2022 at 1:01 PM by an anonymous user from: The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, United States

Just got a call today, they got my voicemail. left a message saying that they just took over my debt and need my address because I must of moved and never updated the past collector. well I have been living in the same spot for the past 11 years and My wife and had both of our credit reports ran 2 months ago to refinance and there was nothing on our credit reports that indicate we are in debut.

    • April 4, 2022 at 3:20 PM by an anonymous user from: Washington, District of Columbia, United States

I also was called today, from a Florida number. I have a FL phone number, but live in Maryland now. They got my VM as well and left the exact same message: They are recently taking over my account, I was noted to have moved w/o updating collector, to call or go to the website to resolve. At the end he kind of pleads asking to just “do the right thing” and “finally settle this debt that is owed.”

      I would steer clear folks!

Here is the number they called from : 1 (786) 459-0994

      • April 4, 2022 at 4:27 PM by an anonymous user from: Ashburn, Virginia, United States

Just got the same voicemail. They do not even say who they are calling and who they calling on behalf of (the creditor). It sucks that someone who didn't pick up on these things would be an easy victim.

  • April 4, 2022 at 10:35 AM by an anonymous user from: Harlingen, Texas, United States

I got a call from these people today saying that I owed a creditor a debt and that they didn't have my current address. The strangest thing was that Verizon tagged them as a possible scam.

If they want to contact me then they can mail me a letter with all the information as to who the creditor is and the amount owed.

I'm not giving them any of my personal information over the internet.

I hope this helps anyone who ow gets a call from Smith Gregory.

  • April 4, 2022 at 9:43 AM by an anonymous user from: Leonard, Texas, United States

Called from 929-585-0425. Said we hadn't given our forwarding address to a credor. We haven't moved in over 20 years.

    • April 4, 2022 at 2:32 PM by an anonymous user from: Big Spring, Texas, United States

Same here 🤬been in the same house for over 20 years

  • April 4, 2022 at 9:26 AM by an anonymous user from: Nassau County, Ingle, Florida, United States

This company has been calling & texting me repeatedly about money that I supposedly owe someone but to who they never say

They even asked me to confirm the last 4 digits of my social security number which I have no idea how they got but I wouldn’t confirm anything & I know that I don’t owe anything to anyone so I was not taken in by this scam

It is, however, very easy to see how one can be fooled by this scam, especially if they have credit card debt
