Scam Center Strike Force - US Law Enforcement

The Scam Center Strike Force is an interagency law enforcement task force launched by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia to dismantle transnational criminal organizations (TCOs) running global cyber-fraud operations. Spearheaded by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro, the task force primarily targets cryptocurrency investment fraud (commonly known as "pig butchering"), romance scams, and confidence schemes that target American citizens.

The task force brings together major federal entities—including the DOJ, FBI, Secret Service, IRS Criminal Investigation, and the State and Treasury Departments—alongside private tech infrastructure partners like Meta, Microsoft, and Starlink to freeze assets and tear down scam infrastructure.

Key Operations & Milestones

  • Massive Crypto Restraints: The strike force has officially restrained more than $1 billion in cryptocurrency linked to illicit money laundering networks and scam operations.
  • Infrastructure Disruption: Authorities have seized over 700 fake cryptocurrency investment websites used to siphon victim funds and disabled thousands of misconfigured Starlink satellite terminals utilized by overseas compounds to maintain connectivity.
  • Targeting Illicit Marketplaces: The strike force took coordinated action against Xinbi Guarantee, a massive Chinese-run transnational criminal marketplace operating on Telegram. The operation successfully froze approximately $52 million in cryptocurrency in a single day.Global Expansion to Africa: In October 2026, the strike force announced federal charges against six Africa-based scammers (including ringleader Chui Kok Wa) who operated out of 13 Chinese-run compounds in Madagascar. The ring used fake personas on dating apps to build trust, tricking victims into linking their crypto wallets to malicious platforms that silently drained their life savings.
