DentaQuest itself is a legitimate dental benefits administrator, but it is currently the focal point of massive scam risks due to a major May 2026 data breach. Cybercriminals from the ShinyHunters group stole and publicly leaked hundreds of gigabytes of data belonging to an estimated 15 to 23 million members, including those on Medicare and Medicaid. Because highly sensitive information like names, Social Security numbers, government IDs, and health insurance details were exposed, scammers are actively using this specific data to launch highly convincing targeted scams.

Common DentaQuest Scams

  • Impersonation Calls: Fraudsters call pretending to be from DentaQuest, Medicaid, or Medicare. They will use your real name, birth date, and dental history to sound legitimate while trying to trick you into revealing bank details or missing personal information.
  • Phishing Emails and Texts: You may receive urgent alerts claiming your dental benefits are suspended, demanding immediate payment, or asking you to click a link to verify your identity.
  • Medical Identity Theft: Scammers may use your stolen information or your children's Social Security numbers to fraudulently bill insurance companies or obtain medical care under your name.

How to Protect Yourself
