Common TELUS Scam Tactics

• The 40% Discount & Password Reset: Scammers call claiming you are a valued customer eligible for a massive loyalty discount. They ask for your billing email, then trigger a real password reset on the TELUS Self-Serve Portal to trick you into reading back the verification code.
• The Device Return Trap: Fraudsters ship a new phone (ordered using your compromised account details) to your home, then call or message claiming it was an error and instructing you to mail it to a different address they control.
• Data-Assisted Phishing: Because recent security incidents have exposed account information, names, and billing history, callers often possess accurate details to make the interaction feel authentic before asking for verification codes or PINs.

Warning Signs of a Scam

• Unsolicited calls or texts offering steep, too-good-to-be-true discounts out of nowhere.
• Requests for passwords, one-time verification codes, date of birth, or PINs over the phone.
• Emails coming from lookalike or third-party domains instead of official corporate extensions.

How to Protect Yourself and Report

• Hang up immediately if a caller asks for verification codes, passwords, or tries to push you into a sudden contract change.
• Verify independently by closing the call and dialing official support numbers listed on the TELUS Contact Us Page or dialing *611 from a TELUS phone.
• Report suspicious communications: Forward phishing texts to 7726 (SPAM), forward emails to CDP@telus.com, or call TELUS Customer Care at 1-866-558-2273. You can also file a report with the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
