AOL Email E m e r g e n c y A l e r t Phishing Scam

The email message below with the subject: "E M E R G E N C Y A L E R T," which claims the recipients have exceeded their storage limits of 1 GB, is a phishing scam and was not sent by AOL. The fake email message, which was sent by cyber-criminals, will take recipients who have clicked on the malicious link in it, to the fake and malicious website: "www.share4u.pw". The malicious website looks exactly like the AOL login page, and will ask potential victims to sign in with their AOL user names and passwords. But, once the potential victims enter their user names and passwords, it will be sent to the cyber-criminals, who will use the information to hijack their victims' AOL accounts.

Subject: E M E R G E N C Y A L E R T

Your mailbox has exceeded the storage limit is 1 GB, which is defined by the administrator, are running at 99.8 gigabytes, you can not send or receive new messages until you re-validate your mailbox.

To renew the mailbox,

If you have already clicked on the link in the fake email message and have entered your information on the fake or phishing AOL website, please try changing your AOL password. If you are unable to change your AOL password, please contact AOL.

Remember, never visit the malicious website: "www.share4u.pw," because it was created by cyber-criminals to steal their victims' information. The cyber-criminals may also use the same malicious website for other phishing scams, so that is why it is important to remember never to visit the website.
