475 Area Code Scam Telephone Calls

Scammers are calling potential victims from 475 area code telephone numbers. The scammers pretend to be from Social Security or pretend to be police officers. They will then attempt to steal their potential victims' Social Security Numbers, ask for money for donation. The scammers may also claim a family member has been arrested and ask for bail money.

A List of 475 Area Code Scam Complaints

  • From: (475) 223-1057 - SSA SCAM - Please do not call this if this number shows up on your caller ID do not pick up the phone. People who receive phone calls of any kind asking for Social Security numbers should be wary of these types of scams and hang up immediately. Consumers are getting alarming phone calls from someone who claims to be from law enforcement or Social Security and then scares you into thinking that your Social Security number has been connected to running drugs and money laundering across the border.
  • The Derby Police Department received two complaints from concerned citizens regarding a potential phone scam. The first caller stated his daughter (who is in North Carolina) received a call from 475-243-0174 and that a man who identified himself as a Derby Police Officer was asking for donations to the police department. The second caller stated he received a call from 475-243-0045 and a man who said he “was with the police department” was also asking for donations. A brief investigation revealed that both were scam phone calls. Citizens should be aware of any calls from a 475 area code (which is actually a CT area code) or anyone soliciting funds on behalf of the Derby Police Department as we are NOT currently involved in any such campaigns.
    Other area police departments are reporting similar scams wherein they will allege that a named family member has been kidnapped, injured, or arrested and needs bail money. If you receive any calls or are unsure about a potential scam please do NOT give out personal, financial, or banking information. If the call is about a family member or acquaintance, attempt to contact him/her directly. Always document as much as you can about the call and then contact your local police department to report the incident.
  • Got same calls guy asks for Allen each time when I say he has wrong number he says maybe I can help him he’s calling from the fraternal order of police in derby. He also called me a third time from 475-228-5066
