The calls in question were scam calls that attempted to obtain personal information by claiming there were arrest warrants out for them. If anyone receives a call from the same number that sounds suspicious, they should hang up and call the department directly. How the Scam WorksScammers frequently use VoIP technology and "neighborhood spoofing" to display fake New York area codes phone numbers of real New York state agencies. They claim you have an outstanding warrant or missed jury duty and demand immediate payment. Real police will never demand money or threaten arrest over the phone.
