If you receive a text, email, or notification stating that someone is attempting to change your phone number on Cash App, this is a scam.Do not click any links, do not reply, and do not share your sign-in code. Fraudsters send these fake alerts to panic you into giving up your account credentials or security PIN so they can take over your account and steal your funds.

Actions to Take

  • Secure your account. Open the official Cash App on your phone. Go to your profile, check your linked phone numbers/emails, and update your PIN immediately if you suspect access.
  • Never share codes. Cash App employees will never ask for your sign-in code, PIN, or full debit card number.
  • Report the message. If it came via text, forward it to 7726 (SPAM). You can also report phishing directly through the official Cash App Support page.
  • Enable Security Lock. In your Cash App settings, toggle on the Security Lock feature (requiring Touch ID, Face ID, or a PIN) to authorize every payment.
