Online Threat Alerts (OTA) - Alerting you to scams and frauds.
If you receive an email or SMS claiming to be from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) that asks you to click a link, open an attachment, or reply with personal details, it is a scam. The real ATO will never send an unsolicited message directing you to a login page or asking you to reply with your Tax File Number (TFN), bank details, or passwords.

If you have already accidentally shared your bank details or myGov credentials with a suspected scammer, contact your financial institution immediately to freeze your funds and call the ATO support line on 1800 008 540 to protect your identity.
