Truist Alerts Scams - How to Protect Yourself

Spot the Red Flags

Scammers use lookalike numbers, fake emails, and spoofed caller IDs to manipulate you. Look out for these telltale signs:

• False Urgency: Messages demanding that you "Secure Your Account Now" or claim your card is "locked" to induce panic.
• Requests for Passcodes: Demands for your one-time PIN or login password. Truist will never ask for your passcodes or full SSN.
• Malicious Links: Text or email buttons directing you to fake login forms designed to steal your credentials or credit card numbers.
• Fake Wire Confirmations: Phone calls alerting you to a fake $15,000 wire transfer to trick you into giving away your account token.

Take Immediate Action

If you received a message but didn't interact with it:

1. Verify Independently: Log into the official Truist mobile app or type truist.com directly into your browser to check your actual account status.
2. Report the Text: Forward phishing texts to 7726 (SPAM).
3. Report to Truist: Take a screenshot and forward malicious messages directly to emailabuse@truist.com.

If you already clicked a link or shared information:

1. Call Truist Fraud Department: Immediately call 844-4TRUIST (844-487-8478) and select option 1. This line is available 24/7.
2. Change Passwords: Update your online banking credentials immediately using a secure device.
3. File a Government Report: Submit a fraud complaint directly on the official FTC Report Fraud Portal.
