Online Threat Alerts (OTA) - Alerting you to scams and frauds.
I received a voicemail from telephone number 1-520-100-1005 stating that due to my payment history and balance I qualify to have my interested rate lowered to 1.9%. I had to call this number 800-258-4857 to take advantage of this offer. And of course, the offer was only good for 3 days.
I knew that Capital One never solicited customers like this so I called Capital One and verified this was a scam they were very helpful to me.
I did not fall for it however I'm sure someone will please be careful if the offer seems too good to be true then it is.
Thank You
Loyal Capital One Cardholder

Same as above. The incoming call said it was from Freemont, NC.
Same as above - voicemail stating the exact message.
So glad someone posted this. I figured it was a scam, but it's always good to verify.
Same here... but curious how they got info that you have capital one card and personal phone number...
Scammers, somehow always get our phone numbers and they call and say the same thing to everyone and they don't really know who has capital one and who doesn't. They just hope some will have capital one and fall for it
I also received a message from "Catherine" who claimed to be an underwriter for Capital One, offering me some eligibility to lower interest rate to 1.9% if I responded within 3 business days. I called Capital One directly--not the number she left--and confirmed it was a phishing scheme.
Yes, it is a scam and I was aware immediately. My question is how did they get my number. I don't know if I signed up for something and my number was sold. I also get those stupid IRS calls --its aggravating.
I received the same message today, it's amazing how hard people will work not to have a real job
I had the same exact thing happen to me.I started investigating and came across this scam alert. The number on my caller ID was 678-685-9951.The 678 area code is a local one to me in the Atlanta calling zone.I don't answer any calls unless the number comes up with an identifiable name in the caller ID.Glad I read this. There was no way I was going to call the number back without investigating.
I received the same phone call on 10/7/19. I knew this was a scam because I paid off my Capital One Credit Card years ago and have not had another one since. Scammers!😡
I received the same call on 10/18/19. The incoming call is a United States number 800-100-1005
I just got this call and called the number back (not believing it at all). When the line is answered, a sweet computer response comes on saying "thank you for calling card member services. A representative will be with you shortly.". I didn't wait around for them. I wanted to let everyone know NOT to call this number...it is a scam.
I called them back just to see what they had to say. (I was sitting in traffic & needed to be entertained)First, I spoke to a heavy accented gal and after giving me her line about my great credit etc, she then transferred me to her manager. I listened to his c**p for a while and when he said the magic phase..."what's your credit card number", I yelled at him that he should know it since they call me!Scammers. Don't give them ANYTHING.Sharon
This just happened to me. Called the 800 #, told them they were a scam. The Asian accented woman tried to convince me they were not. I cut her off and told her that they were and she hung up on me. Scams are everywhere, stay aware!
Received identical message from these crooks this morning. What do you bet they want to "verify" my name, address and SSN? The joke is on them because I don't have a Capital One card... but my concern is that the elderly can fall prey to this bullsh**t and I know one who did. Makes me furious. I'm thinking of returning the call and letting them have it.
I received the identical call. Thank you.
I got the same message!
