Calls from the 855 area code can be either legitimate business communications or highly sophisticated scams. Because 855 is a toll-free prefix used across the US and Canada, scammers often exploit its "professional" appearance to trick people into answering.

855 Scam Tactics

The "One-Ring" Scam: Fraudsters let the phone ring once and hang up, hoping you'll call back. Calling back can result in massive international long-distance charges on your bill.
Imposter Scams: Callers pretend to be from the IRS, Social Security Administration, or companies like Apple or Microsoft. They often claim your account is compromised or you owe immediate payment to avoid arrest.
